In jaya TV, they mentioned that CVS was heart broken that a.o.manam did not do well. It seems he remarked that “neengaL oru thuLi kaNNeer sinthinAl, nAn oru kavaLam sORu sAppiduvEn”

உத்தரவின்றி உள்ளே வா பற்றி கேள்வி பட்டிருக்கிறேன், அந்த கால யூத் மத்தியில் hot fav என்று. ஆனால் அந்த படத்தை ஏனோ பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்று தோனவில்லை.

ஊட்டி வரை உறவு என்னோட fav கிடையாது. கலாட்டா கல்யாணம் ஸ்ரீதர் இயக்கிய திரைப்படம் அல்ல. அவர் தம்பி சி.வி.ராஜேந்திரன் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியான படம்.

I agree the movie was silly. I think Venniradai was possibly Sridhar’s last decent venture. (It was watchable because of Jayalalitha and songs!) வெண்ணிறாடைக்கு பிறகு அவர் இயக்கிய அத்தனை படமும் சொதப்பல் தான்.

You are probably right. Hero-72 was delayed and was released as Vaira Nenjam in 1975. The production must have started in 72 at least. The Hindi version, Gehri Chal, starring Jitendra (Sivaji’s role in Vaira nenjam) and Amitabh (Muthuraman’s role in Vaira nenjam) came out in 73. I don’t think that ran well either. Urimaik Kural’s big success in 74 must have relieved Sridhar.

If Sridhar hadn’t ventured into Hindi, I don’t think he wouldn’t have had any financial problems, I think. None of his Hindi movies were a big success. Dil Ek Mandir (Nenjil Or Alayam) may have been a hit with the critics. That and Pyar Kiye Jaa (Kadhalikka Neramillai) were average hits, I think.
